Romani communities protest across Greece

Hundreds of protesters took to the streets in several districts of Thessaloniki, Attica, as well as in Corinth, where the gypsies live compactly, after an incident when a policeman from the DI.AS group fired a service pistol at 16-year-old Kostas Fragulis, hitting him in the back of the head.

As an unfortunate* thief struggles to survive in intensive care, a wave of protest rises in the gypsy communities, and riots break out in several areas.

On the afternoon of 6 December, tensions reigned in Menidi, near Rue Mornou, when a group of gypsies staged a protest, and some of their protesters set fire to trash cans and threw stones at police officers. The gathering is also taking place in the Avliza area, while earlier a group of people blocked the Egaleos regional road for some time.

Tensions had previously prevailed at Zeugolatio Korinthia Peak due to the protest of a group of Gypsies, with traffic also being halted. Now the passage of cars on both the old and the new national highway is carried out as usual.

After today’s tension outside the Thessaloniki courthouse, in which the police beat the young man’s father without hesitationwho, together with a group of fellow tribesmen armed with wooden batons, attacked the police.

Difficult situation on Pontou Street, in Kalochori, west of Thessaloniki, where residents were set on fire by agricultural vehicles on the road. A large group of MAT special forces is at the scene.

Today at noon, the gypsies set fire to the garbage cans on Mesogeion Avenue near Nomizmatokopiowhere tensions arose when the crowd threw stones at the members of the OPKE anti-terrorist group who were present at the scene, as well as a fire brigade car that rushed to put out the fire.

Like us previously reported, a 16-year-old teenager left the gas station without paying 20 euros for fuel. The police officers who were at the gas station, in violation of instructions, opened fire on the thief’s car, seriously injuring a teenager.

Σε σοβαρές χώρες ο #16χρονος στυγνός εγκληματίας θα είχε δεχθεί δεκάδες ριπές και οι αστυνομικοί που τον εξουδετέρωσαν εύφημον μνείαν που τον σταμάτησαν πριν προκαλέσει θάνατο αθώου πολίτη.
Πρέπει να αλλάξουν οι κανόνες εμπλοκής γιατί η εγκληματικότητα έχει αλλάξει.
