In Thessaloniki, a 41-year-old man of Georgian origin was shot dead today at noon, May 4. Shots were fired in the back from a passing burgundy Renault car without license plates.

The incident occurred in the Stavrupoli area, the victim of the crime was on a motorcycle. Before the attack, he had just stopped and removed his helmet. One of the bullets hit him in the back and remained in his chest, and the second hit him in the shoulder. The police report states:

“Today at noon, a 41-year-old citizen was found dead on the road in the Stavroupoli area, with two gunshot wounds. A team from the Sub-Directorate of Criminal Investigations of Northern Greece arrived at the scene to inspect the scene of the incident. The preliminary investigation is being carried out by police officers from the Department for Crimes against Life and Personal Liberty Thessaloniki Security Directorate.

How writes pronews.gr, the criminals – two men and a woman – were driving in a burgundy Renault car without license plates along Vasily Tsitsani Street. One of the men fired at least three times. After this, the victim was able to take a few steps, and then collapsed on the road dead. It is worth noting that the shots rang out near the playground and in front of visitors to a nearby store.

Media reports that the deceased was previously known to the police, in particular in the department for combating crimes against life. The authorities established his identity: he turned out to be an emigrant from Russia, who had previously been prosecuted by the authorities for participation in a criminal organization, extortion, drugs, arson, violation of weapons laws and for providing “protection” to nightclubs in Thessaloniki, Chalkidiki and other cities in Northern Greece.
