Incredible incident in Corfu: a clay jug fell on a woman's head

As is customary in Corfu at Easter, on the Resurrection of Christ the ceremony “Efimo ton botidon” took place – throwing clay jugs and vases out of the windows.

Thousands of decorated “Easter” vessels fell from the high balconies of the Old Town onto the square to drive away “filth” and evil spirits from the island, and also to remind us of the Resurrection of the Lord. The tradition is repeated every year on Easter. However, this time there were some incidents. The publication corfutvnews.gr reported an accident – a huge vase fell on the head of a passerby.

In particular, a clay pot was thrown from the window of the historic town hall building. At exactly 11:00, Deputy Mayor Spyros Halickopoulos threw the vase away without looking down from the window. It was at that moment that two women walked along the sidewalk. And an object fell directly on one of them’s head, and the victim collapsed onto the asphalt, pulling her friend with her.

Everyone immediately ran to their aid and, according to information, fortunately there were no serious injuries. According to corfutvnews, one of the women received minor injuries and was taken to the hospital where she received stitches.
