Government spokesman Giannis Economou responded to the harsh allegation of espionage by the president of the PASOK-KINAL party: “He can get answers in the proper institutional way.”
As we previously reported, PASOK-KINAL President Nikos Androulakis, in a statement following Mitsotakis’ speech, calls for the reason for his request to be made public immediately with the ΕΥΠ National Intelligence Service.
“Finally, with respect to Predator and other malware that has been or attempted to spy on dozens of politicians and public figures in Europe, we have made it clear that the Greek government did not acquire them, and no security agency in Greece uses them“.
“From the first moment the prime minister was informed of the legal connection to Mr. Androulakis’ phone, the government has sought to inform the president of PASOK-KINAL, which he has steadfastly refused,” government spokesman Yiannis Economou told the PASOK president.
“In addition to the Investigative Committee and the Committee on Institutions and Transparency, which will also deal with this issue, Mr. Androulakis can always apply and receive answers in the appropriate institutional manner from the competent authorities. He stubbornly refuses this option as well,” he notes and adds: “Putting Mr. Androulakis on the phone is politically something that should not have happened, but his legitimacy is unquestioned. If Mr. Androulakis and all those who pretend to doubt the legitimacy want to be convinced of this, it is enough for them refer to law 2225/1994. There they will find all about legal ties for national security reasons that do not exclude any subject from the scope.They will also find the signatures of all those who submitted it.

This is another remarkable persistence of Mr. Androulakis in denying this reality as well.
