A powerful hurricane hits Athens

The strong wind that hit Attica and other parts of the country early on Sunday 07/01 caused dozens of problems.

In the areas of Filothea, Psychiko and Pefki, roads were closed as more than 40 trees fell on power lines, causing a power outage. Falling trees also caused damage to houses and parked cars.

Strong winds have caused problems for coastal ferry routes and a shipping ban has been imposed. The ports of Rafina, Piraeus and Lavrio are closed.
