Saturday 6 January

  • Heavy rain and thunderstorms are forecast for the Ionian Islands, Epirus, western Sterea and western Peloponnese from late evening.
  • Southerly winds with a force of 7-8 on the Beaufort scale will blow from midday in the Ionian Sea and in the afternoon in the Aegean Sea, and at night they will intensify in places up to 9.

Sunday 7 January

  • Heavy rain and storms will continue until midday in western Greece (Ionian Sea, Epirus, western Sterea, western and southern Peloponnese) and weaken in the evening. From early morning, heavy rain and storms will affect eastern Macedonia, Thrace and possibly islands in the eastern Aegean at times, improving in places during the afternoon.
  • The wind will blow in the seas from the south/southwest with an intensity of 7-8 and temporarily in the morning in some places 9 on the Beaufort scale.

Please note that particularly strong southerly winds affect maritime traffic. After a long period of good weather and above-average temperatures for the season, Greek meteorologists are predicting a front of bad weather next week with significantly lower temperatures and snowfall.
