In the next 24 hours there will be a new deterioration in the weather – bad weather will come in two waves, and it may snow in Attica.
Next week, namely on Tuesday 01/09/23 and Friday 01/12/23, two waves of cold are expected in our country, which will come to Greece from… Ukraine.
Meteorologist George Tsatrafilia predicts severe frosts, temperatures dropping to 8 degrees Celsius and snow even in Attica.
Snow, frost and drop in temperature
In more detail, as Mr. Tsatrafillias says in his post:
“Two cold waves from Ukraine will affect us this new week.
Two waves of cold
First wave: Tuesday 9/1 – Wednesday 10/1
- temperature drop by 6-8 degrees
- northern winds in the Aegean Sea (more than 9 points)
- thunderstorms in areas bordering the Aegean Sea
- severe frosts in northern Greece
- snow at altitudes from 600 meters in Amfissa and further north.
Second wave: Friday 12/1 – Saturday 13/1
- temperature drop by another 2-3 degrees compared to Wednesday
- gusty northerly winds in the Aegean Sea (more than 9 points)
- frosts in northern Greece
- snow precipitation in the north and south at altitudes of 300 meters. Snow will fall in the mountains of Attica, in the northern suburbs (Kifissia, Dionysos, Elali, Menidi).
Estimated maximum temperatures:
- Wednesday: Athens 9°C, Thessaloniki 7°C
- Saturday: Athens 7°C, Thessaloniki 5°C.
