At the same time, according to forecast data from the National Observatory of Athens/meteo.gr, very hot and dry conditions, which have already covered most of our country, have led to the predominance of pyrometeorological conditions that can make it difficult to fight emerging forest fires.

In fact, it is noted that until Saturday, July 15, 2023, a critically high combustibility of dead forest fuel is expected. As the analysis of the available forecast data shows, in a number of regions of the eastern part of the mainland, a decrease in the moisture content of dead forest fuel (flammability index) to values of less than 10% is expected, and at these levels it will remain even at night. Under such weather conditions, it will be favorable for the spread of fire even at night, which will complicate the task of controlling and extinguishing forest fires.
