Europe "groans" from the heat, extreme temperatures in Greece

Many European countries are in the zone of high temperatures, humanity is experiencing the hottest days in the history of meteorological observations. On Monday, July 3, the global average temperature for the first time exceeded 17°C.

In Germany the thermometer rose to 38°C. Fleeing from the heat, the inhabitants of the country together rushed to natural reservoirs, but, as it turned out, they were also in danger there. Kai Müller (DLRG Ortsgruppe Korb) warns:

“The risks associated with swimming in the lake during the heat are not only sunstroke and skin burns, but also too much temperature difference when entering the water. The body does not cool down in time, the temperature difference is too big.”

Doctors talk about the so-called cold shock – stressful state of the body as a result of exposure to low temperature, one of the consequences of which can be fatal.

In France some departments have declared an orange – dangerous – mode. In Lyon, the air warmed up to 38°C last Sunday. Meteo France experts say that the current heat wave episode is not exceptional for the summer season, but requires special vigilance, as it will last for several days.

In Poland a 30-degree heat was established – by Greek standards, the weather is quite comfortable for summer. However, doctors urge citizens of the country not to go out during the midday sun and drink plenty of water.

In Spain and Portugal the air temperature in the coming days will exceed 40°C. The heat increased and in Italy. Temperatures are predicted to reach +40°C today in most of Italy and +48°C in Sicily and Sardinia. Last year, about 15,000 people died in Europe due to the effects of abnormal heat waves.
