Paris "cleanse" from migrants, but authorities deny any connection with the Olympics (video)

Migrants from Paris are being transported en masse to other French cities. Authorities say: “This is not related to the Olympic Games.” And in Germany they will reduce the number of refugees in another way – by stopping payments to Ukrainians liable for military service.

How writes Euronews, NGOs talk about “social cleansing”. For example, another group of migrants arrived in Orleans from Ile-de-France, the reason for their move was allegedly due to overcrowded temporary accommodation centers in the French capital. NGOs claim that in this way the authorities “beautify” Paris and improve its image. The mayor of Orleans, Serge Grouard, speaks of the resettlement of at least 500 migrants over the past year, without warning public services:

“Since May 2023, buses have been arriving regularly, every three weeks or so, from Paris to Orléans. The buses carry between 30 and 50 people.”

To the journalist’s question, “Do you think this is connected with the upcoming Olympic Games?” the mayor replied: “I'm not sure, but the apparent coincidence is a little unsettling.”

The Loiret prefecture confirms the creation of a “reception hub”, but denies any connection with the Olympics, and humanitarian organizations condemn “social cleansing”. Paul Aluzi, from the NGO Doctors of the World, says:

“If the idea is just to hide poor and homeless people throughout France without providing more resources to local authorities, and make way for the Olympics, then in humanitarian terms this approach does not work.”

A woman without permanent residence says: “I was advised to change the region. I was told that because of the Olympics it (Paris) was too crowded.”

The state finances, the authorities say, and organizes the transportation of migrants from Paris for those who wish. They have a choice of ten cities, including Marseille, Toulouse and Lyon. But local officials continue to say they have neither such information nor additional resources.

Meanwhile in Germany they want stop payments to Ukrainian refugees liable for military service. Berliner Zeitung publication writes, that a corresponding statement was made by Bundestag deputy from the opposition CDU Florian Hahn. According to him, Berlin should help Kyiv issue a summons to everyone, since “Germany should not spend its money on those who are hiding from mobilization.” The deputy is outraged that German taxes go to help Ukraine at a time when thousands of Ukrainians are holed up in Germany.

The publication Der Spiegel reported on March 22, citing the German Ministry of Internal Affairs, that there are currently about 1.65 million Ukrainians registered in Germany. This is approximately 250,000 more people than in 2023. As follows from the publication, the number of Ukrainian citizens fleeing Russian military aggression now exceeds the number of asylum seekers in Germany from other countries. In Germany they want to stop payments to Ukrainian refugees liable for military service and help Ukraine serve them with summonses.
