The demand for auto mechanics-electricians, highly qualified specialists in the field of repair and maintenance of cars, and now also electric vehicles, will grow in the very near future throughout the world and, of course, in Greece.
The automotive industry’s transition to zero-emission vehicles has already begun, with changes affecting all major industries. Electric cars will completely replace conventional cars in the near future, including in Greece. And although at the moment electric cars make up only a very small part of the total vehicle fleet in our country, their percentage is increasing at an ever-increasing pace.
Wherein there is a need to increase the number of qualified personnel in Greece (and beyond), which will be able to service and repair electrified (full and plug-in hybrid) and factory-electric vehicles, also called high-voltage vehicles (more than 60 V).
Thus high voltage vehicle technician is a four-wheeler career whose demand is expected to grow rapidly in the coming years. In our country Higher education institutions have already launched relevant training programssuch as the National Technical University of Metsovio and the University of Western Macedonia.
By providing the appropriate certification for a professional license or renewal of an existing one, these programs allow interested individuals to expand their knowledge and skills to the extent that they can safely repair and maintain high voltage vehicles.
The programs concern the retraining of university engineers with degrees in electrical, mechanical or naval engineering, TEI graduates (mechanical, electrical and automotive engineers, electrical and mechanical engineers), as well as IEK, EPAL, TEE graduates with specialization in electrical engineering, mechanical and automotive engineers. The first cycles of these training programs have already started in the specialty “High Voltage Vehicle Technician”, the demand for which is expected to increase sharply in the coming years.
