At a time when the government constantly talks about “a strong economy” and is even surprised that citizens do not recognize this, the numbers “speak for themselves.” And speaking of reality, we must admit that the Greeks are simply “heavily in debt.”
The inexorable figures are as follows: unpaid taxes alone amount to 5 billion euros (and the 4th quarter has not yet been calculated!), while 40% of citizens are “blacklisted” by the tax office. Unpaid taxes for the ten months from January to October 2023 reached approximately 5 billion euros, with the number of debtors still exceeding 4 million.
According to AADE, the total amount of arrears exceeded 106 billion euros, with “fresh” arrears reaching 5.771 billion euros in October:
In the 10th month, arrears to the state reached a total of 5.771 billion euros.
The total overdue debt reached 106.020 billion. euros, of which 26.311 billion euros are uncollectible and net arrears amount to 79.7 billion euros.
4,031,138 individuals and legal entities have “open accounts” with the tax office. Of these, 2,041,234 debtors are facing confiscation (απειλούνται με κατασχέσει), and 1,479 debtors have already been “billed.” 507 enforcement actions were imposed.
