"A subtle hint at thick circumstances"

Arnoldas Pranckevičius, Permanent Representative of Lithuania to EUhinted that Hungary, in line with its position on the outcome of this week’s European Council meeting, should leave the European Union.

How reports “European Truth”, the Lithuanian diplomat pointed to “one” of the leaders, without directly naming Hungary, who did not agree with the approval of 50 billion euros of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine and “bragged about his achievements on Twitter.” He emphasized:

“I really want to wish this member state never to experience the war that the people of Ukraine are now experiencing, so that its cities are not bombed and its citizens are not killed, so that its territories are never occupied by an aggressor state. I wish it never to ask for solidarity from others and never find ourselves in a situation where allies veto vital aid in times of greatest need.”

According to the diplomat, if a member state is not ready to share the solidarity and mutual trust of the European Union, “there is only one correct solution: to leave it.”

Let us recall that at the EU summit the leaders supported opening of negotiations with Ukraine and Moldova. The decision on Kyiv was blocked by Hungary for a long time, but its veto was overcome by persuading Viktor Orban escape from during voting and thus abstain.

The Hungarian prime minister later said that he agreed to give up his veto on the start of negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the EU because he would still have many opportunities to block this process.
