Wages rose by more than 11%, but… in Germany

Once stable and prosperous countries are trying to reduce the risk of bankruptcy and are desperately struggling with financial difficulties. Only Germany alone has no equal in 4th place in the ranking of world economies.

It seems that its economic stability cannot be shaken by numerous strikes or an influx of refugees/immigrants from third world countries. A big victory for German workers was (after difficult negotiations) a wage increase of more than 11%. Public sector workers in the country’s federal states are glad that they “got their way.”

A similar agreement was concluded between the government and municipalities in April last year. According to the ver.di trade union, it covers about 1.1 million workers and will be in force until October 31, 2025.

It should be noted that Germany’s GDP fell just 0.1% in the third quarter, less than the initial fears of -0.4%. In addition, there was an increase in investment in equipment, which offset the decline in private spending.
The average salary in Germany in 2023 is 4,105 euros. Compared to the previous year, this figure increased by 2.81% – its value was 3,981 euros.

The amount of payment depends on the type of work and the region of Germany. In particular, car drivers earn the least on average – 2,293 euros, and surgeons earn the most. Their average earnings range from 5,500 to 7,100 euros. The average income of teachers in Germany is 4,000 euros.

The highest salaries among 102 countries in the world are received in Switzerland, Luxembourg and Singapore. The last three places are Nigeria, Pakistan and Egypt. In Switzerland, the average monthly salary reaches 5,620 euros, in Luxembourg – 4,463, and in Singapore – 4,420. Also in the top ten are the USA, Iceland and Qatar, Denmark, the UAE, the Netherlands and Australia.
