As a result of the collapse of an 18-meter section of Highway 23 in southern China, cars fell into a hole, some of the cars ended up under rubble. At least 48 people were killed and 30 injured.
Authorities in the city of Meizhou reported that the tragic incident occurred on the night of May 1, at about 2 o'clock, on the highway that goes from Guangdong province to Fujian province.
Guangdong has experienced record rainfall over the past two weeks, causing flooding and likely causing the collapse of an expressway.
