On the afternoon of Thursday, November 23, a Messinia Interurban KTEL bus traveling on the Kalamata-Athens route was attacked by unknown assailants.
According to Messinia Interurban KTEL President Yiannis Kantzas, who spoke to Messinialive.gr, it was around 16:00 and the bus began its route to Athens when, while moving along the national road at the height of Arfara, it was thrown with stones, causing the rear right The bus window was broken.
There were 49 passengers on the bus and, fortunately, only the outer surface of the double safety glass was broken. Fortunately, the worst was averted and there were no casualties, but the anxiety and shock of the passengers as a result of the attack was palpable. According to a local website, the driver saw three young gypsies on the side of the highway, who immediately fled after the attack.
Police arrived at the scene, as well as traffic officers from Moray to “decongest” the route as the bus stopped at the side of the road and a second, backup bus arrived and passengers were transferred to it.
The police are looking for those responsible for the attack. Information is being collected from surveillance cameras installed in the area.
