All schools in Israel are closed due to the fact that the country has officially declared a state of war.
A vote took place last night in the security cabinet, according to the Prime Minister’s Office, where the decision was made. Times of Israel writesthat the authorities can now carry out “significant military activities.”
The decision by the high-level security cabinet gives the declaration legal force, in accordance with the Basic Law, Article 40 of which states that a country cannot go to war without a government decision.
The Israel Defense Forces announces that schools across the country will remain closed for the coming days. The restrictions will remain in place until 6pm on Tuesday but are likely to be extended due to the fighting.
Businesses south of Netanya and north of the central Negev can open, but only if they have easy access to bomb shelters, the military warns. In these areas, gatherings are limited to 10 people outdoors and 50 people indoors, according to the IDF Logistics Command.
