Thessaly: rescuer carries baby out of flooded house (video)

A touching video recording of the rescue of a baby from a flooded house in Thessaly is rapidly spreading on the Internet.

Even today, so many days after the disaster, entire areas remain flooded with mud and water. In one of the “drowned” houses in Thessaly, EMAK special forces rescued a baby.

The video shows how the EMAK rescuer lovingly holds the child in his arms and, calming him down, says: “my darling” (“ψυχούλα μου”). Then, having safely reached the boat waist-deep in water, he says: “Here is your mommy” and passes it to the woman, who is going crazy with anxiety and tension. The mother, bursting into tears of joy, hugs and kisses the baby, clearly relieved.

Infantrymen rescue elderly people by evacuating them by boat. Army units had been in Thessaly since the early days of the hurricane to rescue victims of the deadly weather and bring them safely across the waters that had inundated almost the entire Thessalian plain.

Numerous photographs were posted on Twitter on Tuesday 12/09 by GEETHA head Konstantinos Floros showing Marines evacuating elderly people using inflatable boats to ferry them to safety.
