British tourist in Cyprus beaten to death with “mπράβοι”

A 29-year-old British tourist has tragically died after being beaten outside a nightclub at 3:30 am in the province of Iskele in occupied Cyprus.

The incident happened on August 11th. The victim is Hussein Mavideniz, a Turkish Cypriot by birth, who came from the UK with his father for treatment, writes The Sun. According to a spokesman for the local police, the man was the victim of a severe beating and was killed in front of the club in the early morning. The persons involved in the attack were detained.

Mavideniz received several severe blows to the head from the club’s security staff (“mπράβοι”). He was then taken to a hospital in Nicosia, where doctors pronounced him dead. An autopsy showed that “his death was the result of a cerebral hemorrhage.” Hematological and toxicological examinations are expected.

Shortly after Mavideniz was taken to the hospital, a group of men arrived and caused havoc among patients and staff by smashing windows with sledgehammers. It is currently unknown who these people were and why they attacked the hospital. A photo on social media shows broken glass on the floor, chairs and tables in the admissions department, writes Yenidüzen. Eyüp Güksu, deputy director of the hospital, says:

“He died shortly after being admitted to the hospital. The police are now investigating. The doctors on duty told us about all the details, and now the police have taken up the matter.”

Two accused of murder after the trial were taken into custody for three days, they are 26-year-old and 23-year-old men. According to the Cyprus Mail, Mavideniz had an argument with the first of them outside a nightclub in Trikomos. According to a police officer, Mavideniz lost consciousness from the blow that the first suspect inflicted on his face. The second suspect hit him on the head.

As evidence, footage from CCTV cameras is used, as well as clothes and shoes that were on the two defendants during the attack and were found during a search of their homes.

The police announces the arrest of 13 people from 18 to 43 years old. The detentions are also linked to “serious assault and damage” in the hospital, writes CNN Greece.
