Giant waves in Patras scare beachgoers

It is not clear where they came from, huge waves covered the Πλαζ beach in Patras – there was not a single ship on the horizon, and the weather was absolutely calm.

A strange phenomenon occurred on Thursday morning, mystical waves frightened the swimmers, and they quickly began to go ashore. Within a few minutes, the water created real lakes on the shore and, having shown its power, receded – calm reigned again in the beach area. eyewitnesses assuredthat there was no ship causing waves:

“Huge waves came running one after another. Luckily it was morning and there weren’t many people around. But some of the bathers got scared and climbed out of the sea one by one. After a few minutes, the phenomenon dissipated, and calm returned to the water area. At that time there was no wind, there was not the slightest wave on the sea until the moment when the “bad” happened.

Some speculate that some sort of undercurrent caused these giant waves on the beach.
