Facebook chats became a nightmare for a 34-year-old woman on Syros who first saw her bank account empty and then was extorted by a criminal who managed to get her hands on visuals of her private moments.
As the girl reported to the Ermoupolis police, she corresponded on social networks with a man whose profile turned out to be fake, but by that time he managed to win her trust and lure her codes for accessing Internet banking, as a result of which 7500 were debited from her account. Euro.
But it didn’t end with the theft of money… The fraudster began to blackmail the girl by releasing videos and photos of her with erotic content, which he obtained from her personal archives, if she did not give him more money. In fact, to convince her, he sent the material to a friend of hers, and went so far as to threaten to kill her!
The police are investigating the case and trying to identify the blackmailer from his digital footprints.
