The market is in a festive mood ahead of Easter, with traders expecting holiday turnover, including travel, food and accommodation services, to exceed last year's €1.5 billion.
As for the cost of the holiday table, according to the first data available to the Ministry of Development, the products included in the Easter Basket this year have the same or even lower prices compared to 2023.
Control teams are “studying” the market, and an increased flow of tourists from abroad is noted. In order for consumers to make the necessary shopping trips more comfortably, retail outlets will also be open this Sunday, 28/04. At the same time, supermarket traffic increased. Consumers are using combinations of family, Lenten and Easter baskets to organize their holiday table on time.
In particular, the “Easter Basket” is valid from April 24 to May 4, and the “Lenten Basket” until May 4. It is noted that “Easter” is an extension of “family”, since four categories of food products have been added to it. It includes the following products: eggs, lamb, goat meat, buns/chureki, Easter chocolate eggs and related products.
According to the first data from the Ministry of Development, the goods included in the Easter basket this year have the same or even lower prices compared to 2023. In particular the price of lamb in supermarkets is at the same level as last year, that is, just under 10 euros per kilogram. Consumers can find lamb priced between €9.78 and €9.99 per kilogram.
The price of goat meat, which is slightly more expensive than lamb, is exactly at the same level as in 2023. Consumers can find meat in the Easter Basket for just under €10, with a discount of up to 10.99% per kilo. Prices for buns/chureki remained unchanged compared to 2023, and prices for items such as eggs and feta cheese have dropped slightly.
Family expenses for Easter are estimated at 190 euros.
