Warning, scam! Residents of Attica are receiving phone calls

Cases of telephone fraud related to tax refunds have been reported in the Attica region. Authorities are alerting citizens that law enforcement agencies are receiving reports of misleading calls.

People are getting calls from people claiming to be refunding taxes that have been withheld from their invoices. Citizens are asked to provide their personal information, which is then used for extortion and theft of money.

The administration of the Attica region warns: under no circumstances are such calls officially received, these are attempts at telephone fraud. The appeal states, quotes CNN Greece:

Be especially wary of spam calls and spam messages (SMS), especially those asking for access to your bank account profile or other personal information. Do not disclose personal data – passwords and other confidential information. If you receive such a call, contact the competent authorities and report the incident.

The Financial Management Department of the Attica Region always, without exception, communicates with the public either by email (The email address is protected from spambots.
