Ukrainian Armed Forces urge residents of southern Ukraine to evacuate

The Ukrainian authorities announce preparations for the liberation of the southern regions of the country and ask civilians of the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions to leave their homes.

According to BBC, Oleksiy Reznikov, head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, spoke in an interview with the British Sunday Times about the order of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to proceed with the liberation of the occupied territories, having worked out a plan. Without specifying, however, what territories he was talking about, Reznikov said:

“This is my job, I write to partners from other countries, explaining why we [для реализации этого плана] specific types of weapons are needed.”

The situation at the front in the southern region is stably tense. According to press service of the Ministry of Defense Ukraine, the advancement of the Ukrainian troops is taking place slowly but surely, moving towards the goal – the de-occupation of the south. Natalia Gumenyuk, head of the Joint Coordinating Press Center of the Defense Forces of the South of Ukraine, says:

“The situation in the southern region remains stably tense. The advance of our troops is taking place, it is slow but sure. Our successes will be announced as soon as they are consolidated. The main achievement now is the defeat of command posts and logistics centers, ammunition depots, fuel and lubricants. There are achievements regarding military equipment, which is located directly in positions along the line of conflict.”

Gumenyuk notes that the enemy practices overflights of Ukrainian positions by helicopters, air strikes in the rear areas, as well as rocket attacks. She stated that recently in Russia the use of the S-300 system, which uses shells with a large fragmentation damage, has been practiced.

At the same time, Vladimir Zelensky, as Strana writes, declaredthat he had not read Reznikov’s interview with words about his order to recapture the south. The President stated this at a joint press conference with Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte, held in Kyiv on July 11. According to the head of state, the task of de-occupation of territories is before all the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but the president will not share specific plans.
