First negotiations between Ukraine and the Russian Federation on displaced children (video)

Through the mediation of the Qatari authorities, Russia and Ukraine held face-to-face negotiations in Doha on displaced children.

How tells Euronews, they agreed to return 48 minors to their families. Maria Lvova-Belova, Commissioner for Children's Rights under the President of the Russian Federation, reported on the negotiations.

She clarified that 29 children will come from Russia to Ukraine, and 19 will go to Russia, according to the recorded lists.

Kyiv claims that since the start of the full-scale invasion of Russia or the occupied territories, more than 19 thousand children have been taken. The Russian Ombudsman called this information fake.

Let us recall that in March 2023 the International Criminal Court issued warrants to her arrest and the arrest of Russian President Vladimir Putin on charges of illegally deporting Ukrainian children. One of them is Rostislav, kidnapped near Kherson. He managed to escape from the place where he was undergoing military training. The teenager recalls:

“It was scary there. The worst thing was when I was locked in the isolation ward. I wanted to escape from there, but I understood that the consequences would be terrible.”
