USA: state of emergency in New York and New Jersey

Due to the natural aggression that led to the death of 44 people, US President Joe Biden declared a state of emergency in New York and New Jersey.

He called on federal agencies to help local authorities combat the extensive devastation left behind by the Ida storm. A press release from the American president states that he:

Authorizes the Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Emergency Management Agency to coordinate disaster relief efforts in the two states.

In 44 localities in the northeastern United States, floods have been declared extremely high. At least 44 people were killed by the tornado, and hundreds were injured.

Hurricane Ida killed 14 people in New York and New Jersey, according to The New York Times, including a 2-year-old child. The elements caused floods and tornadoes in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. A state of emergency has been declared in the first two cities. Subway flooded in New York.

A tornado in southern New Jersey literally demolished several residential buildings. More than 200,000 homes in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania are without electricity. According to police, the age of those killed in New York ranged from a 2-year-old boy to an 86-year-old woman. Some found their death in rapidly flooded basements, which were illegally converted into living quarters. New Jersey authorities announced the discovery of five dead citizens in a residential complex in Elizabeth. Earlier, Ida had hit Louisiana.

The largest city in the state of New Orleans was completely de-energized. Experts say it will take weeks to restore the power supply. The wind easily pulled out huge trees, tore off roofs from houses, and even managed to reverse the course of the Mississippi, the largest river in North America.
