A team from the Arson Crime Prevention (AECD) Fire Brigade went to Artemis to investigate the circumstances under which the fire broke out Thursday afternoon.
The fire that broke out in Artemis, in the area of Agios Ioannis, was localized in the late afternoon, but a canister of gasoline found near the place of its origin raised serious suspicions of arson.
According to irafina.gr, right above the place where the fire started, one of the residents found a can of gasoline. The man immediately called the police, and the police from the team went to the place ΔΙΑΣ.
The police took the canister away, while on the orders of Fire Chief Gerogios Pournaras, an AECD team went to the scene to investigate the cause of the fire. It is noted that a total of 28 firefighters with 10 vehicles and a team of foot squads worked to extinguish the fire.
The fire brigade was alerted shortly before 12 noon on Thursday after a fire was reported in Artemis. The fire broke out in an open area near Ioannina Street, next to a forest and residential buildings.
