The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine resumes consular services for men abroad with certain changes

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine spoke about innovations in obtaining consular services by men abroad.

From May 18, the acceptance of applications for consular services for men of mobilization age in foreign diplomatic institutions has been resumed, writes “European Truth”, referring to information posted on official website Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Foreign Ministry reported that during “technical pause“has updated the necessary algorithms for the provision of consular services in accordance with the updated law on mobilization. From today, May 18, men aged 18-60 years can submit applications for consular services, but at the same time must provide a military registration document in paper or electronic form:

“Thus, conscripts need to have a certificate of registration at the conscription station, and those liable for military service and military personnel need a military ID or temporary certificate.”

Paper documents will be valid “only until the conscript’s electronic account is launched,” after which only electronic military registration documents will be valid. They can be formed independently in electronic accountstarting June 18.

If a person does not have a paper document on military registration, and the electronic account has not yet started working, he can register for temporary consular registration or update his consular registration data and then apply for consular services, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs explains. In three cases, the department says, it is not necessary to submit a military registration document:

• if we are talking about issuing an identity card to return to Ukraine;
• when the consular action is performed in the interests of a child whose second parent is a foreigner or stateless person;
• if an arrested or imprisoned applicant applies for consular services.

Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Olga Stefanishyna said earlier that Ukraine will not force a return men of military age from abroad.
