This is interesting: who gets along best with pets and understands them

Scientists from the University of Copenhagen spoke about the nature of people who get along best with pets.

Surely, almost all of us have observed how animals faithfully look into the eyes of one person and unconditionally carry out any command, while they do not take into account the other and try to bypass him. What is the reason? In the bad education of the animal? Not only, Danish scientists note.

Of course, in order for a pet to bring only joy, it must be properly educated, says doctorpiter. A pet cannot be beaten or spanked, and even shouted at him – obedience will not increase from this, and it is quite possible to wake up an aggressor in an animal. A puppy or a kitten must be praised for good deeds, and for spoiled slippers or annoying puddles, one must not scold, but demonstrate chagrin with all one’s appearance.

Even if the baby is brought up by all family members, he will still reach out to only one person most of all. Over time, the attention of the chosen “leader” will become the most desired reward for the animal, its commands will be carried out the first time, and the pet will demonstrate with all its appearance: here it is – my favorite owner. Why? What kind of people best understand and get along with pets? These questions puzzled scientists from the University of Copenhagen. They conducted a study in which they tried to find out who is best at understanding the emotions of animals, accurately determining whether a pet is stressed or happy and cheerful.

Voluntary participants in the experiment were 1024 people from 48 different countries. All of them were allowed to listen to how various animals “talk” – sheep, pigs, horses, cats, dogs – and were asked to evaluate the result. As it turned out, people with a well-developed sense of empathy best understood four-legged people. That is, those who sincerely empathize even with unfamiliar people and always know how to support and how to console. One of the authors of the study, Elodie Brifer, says:

“We also noticed that the longer a person works with an animal, the better he understands it. This, for example, concerns experienced farmers – they probably know why the sheep stopped eating, and the horse suddenly became aggressive.”

The age of a person also plays an important role – young people from 20 to 29 years old understand animals best of all. Younger ones, under the age of twenty, understood animals much worse than those in old age. It is curious: with age, the older the person, the worse he will understand the pet. Researchers say:

“For us, it was surprising that empathy for people and animals is directly related. That is, the more a person can empathize with his species, the better he understands other species, the same horses and dogs.”

But there is no limit to perfection, including in the case of empathy. The longer the participants in the experiment listened to the animals, the more correct answers they had. Scientists also determined that the ability to feel and understand animals is not affected in any way by the level of education, the presence of children and gender. So the common assertion that, for example, a mother of many children will get along better with a cat than a single man is no more than a myth, writes BB.LV.
