For Greek teachers, admission to museums will be free

Both working and retired Greek teachers will be able to visit museums and archaeological sites free of charge.

The Ministry of Culture and Sports announced the abolition of payment for visiting these institutions by teachers. The innovation applies to teachers of primary, secondary and higher educational institutions of the country, the report says.

According to a joint ministerial decision by Minister of Culture and Sports Linas Mendonis and Deputy Minister of Finance Theodoros Skilakakis, teachers are exempted from the obligation to pay for visits to the country’s archaeological sites, historical sites, monuments and museums. In a ministry statement, writes newsbeast.gr, underlined:

“In the case of substitutes and hourly teachers, the extension of the free admission card is possible as long as they perform an educational function.”
