The Guardian: "Daughter "ideologue" Putina died in a car bomb explosion"

In the Moscow region, a car exploded, in which Daria Dugina, the daughter of the influential Russian political ideologist Alexander Dugin, was driving.

According to some reports, it was he who was supposed to be in the blown up car and become the target, but his daughter was driving, writes The Guardian. According to the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, which opened a criminal case on the fact of attempted murder, the explosion occurred near the village of Bolshie Vyazemy near Moscow, and it was Daria Dugina who was driving. The SC message says:

“An explosive device, allegedly installed in a Toyota Land Cruiser, went off at full speed on a public highway, after which the car caught fire. The female driver died at the scene. The identity of the deceased has been established: it is a journalist and political scientist Daria Dugina.”

The car was literally torn apart by a powerful explosion about 20 km west of the capital, yesterday, around 21:30 local time. Witnesses said debris was scattered all over the road when the car caught fire before crashing into a fence.

The head of the public movement “Russian Horizon” Andrey Krasnov, a friend of Dugina, confirmed the information, reports TASS. He noted that the target could have been her father:

“It was my father’s car. Daria was driving in a different car, but today she took his car, and Alexander went the other way. He returned, was at the scene of the tragedy. As far as I understand, the target was Alexander, or perhaps they are together.”

Media 112 also claimed that Dugin and her daughter were at an event in the Moscow region and were supposed to return together, but at the last minute the father decided to go by another car.

A number of pro-Kremlin officials blamed Kyiv for the explosion. Margarita Simonyan, head of state-run RT, wrote that “Dugin’s daughter was blown up” and called for attacks on “decision-making centers” in Kyiv. The head of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic, Denis Pushilin, also accused the Ukrainian government:

“Sneaky villains! The terrorists of the Ukrainian regime, trying to eliminate Alexander Dugin, blew up his daughter… In the car. Blessed memory of Daria, she is a real Russian girl!

Alexander Dugin is known for his far-right views on Russia’s place in the world. He has been called a “Russian fascist” who helped shape Vladimir Putin’s expansionist foreign policy.

The father and daughter were sanctioned by the United Kingdom and the United States “for actions aimed at destabilizing Ukraine.” The UK Financial Sanctions Enforcement Authority called Dugin “a frequent and high-profile source of disinformation regarding Ukraine and the Russian invasion of Ukraine on various online platforms.”

The US Treasury Department has sanctioned Daria Dugina as editor-in-chief of the United World International website, which some say belongs to Putin ally Yevgeny Prigozhin.
