Bloomberg: record purchases of Russian oil by European countries

Some European countries have returned to the Russian oil market, Bloomberg reports. There are those who secretly carry out record purchases of fuel.

As noted edition, shipments of Russian oil to Italian and Turkish ports rose to a multi-week high. The message says:

“Russian oil shipments to ports in Italy and Turkey rose to a multi-week high in the seven days to Aug. 5, offsetting another drop in shipments to customers in northern Europe, according to ship tracking data. Shipments from Russia to the Mediterranean region as a whole were the highest since mid-June.”

Deliveries to Italy hit a seven-week high and Turkey a six-week high. Spain has accepted the first shipment of Urals crude oil since April (delivered from Kazakhstan). Last week, Greece, for the first time since February, bought Russian grade oil (delivered from the Baltics). Combined oil supplies to Bulgaria and Romania rose, for the first time in three weeks, to 255,000 bpd.

Recall that the leaders of the countries EUagreeing on the sixth package of sanctions against Russia for its invasion of Ukraine, agreed to introduce embargo to import two-thirds of Russian oil. The G7 countries intend to impose restrictions on the cost of Russian oil at the beginning of winter.

More than a month in the European Union could not find a solution that would suit everyone. Most of all resisted Hungary, which does not have access to the sea. Russia for her is a traditional supplier of energy resources. To search for other partners and refit, Hungary received a reprieve.

Poland and Germany were also allowed some indulgences – they will gradually refuse oil from Russia, in stages, in order to complete this process by the end of the year. Both countries use the northern part of the Druzhba pipeline.
