Booking for second booster dose

Yesterday, April 13, the platform for booking the fourth coronavirus vaccine (second booster dose) for the 70-79 age group was opened.

Citizens aged 60-69, as reported cnn.gr, will be able to sign up for the fourth dose on Friday 15 April. After April 7, when the site opened to the most vulnerable people aged 80 and over, about 40,000 people signed up for a second booster dose. It is those who wish, since this vaccination is not mandatory and is not associated with certificates, that the National Committee on Vaccination recommends giving the fourth dose to vulnerable citizens.

On January 20, vaccination with the fourth dose of citizens who belong to the immunodeficient group began. According to Maria Theodoridou, president of the National Committee on Vaccination, the elderly and immunocompromised people are particularly at increased risk of serious illness and complications. They may initially have a lower immune response after vaccination, which weakens even more quickly enough.

A second booster dose is expected to reduce the likelihood of hospitalization. The National Vaccination Committee recommends the introduction of the 2nd booster dose of the Pfizer and Moderna mRNA vaccine at least 4 months after vaccination with the 1st booster dose, that is, the third vaccination.
