On Christmas Eve, the charitable organization “ΑΠΟΣΤΟΛΗ” of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens completed gift bags (rations) for the homeless in Athens.
Not for the first time – in the midst of a pandemic and an increase in the number of cases of coronavirus – ΑΠΟΣΤΟΛΗ listens to the needs of the homeless, offering them daily necessities with many wishes for a Happy New Year. This time, the mission of distributing rations was entrusted to the Greek police.
The bag contains durable food, biscuits, water and fruit juices. Sometimes humanitarian aid is accompanied by the distribution of bedding, clothing, shoes and personal hygiene items, depending on weather conditions, circumstances and the needs of those in need.
The profile of the people who each time expect help from “ΑΠΟΣΤΟΛΗ” are marginal individuals: drug addicts, prisoners, vagabonds, homeless people.
But not only. The recipients of the extended assistance were poor pensioners, large families, and our fellow citizens who were financially unprotected, who were at first deadlocked due to the economic crisis, and now they were “finished off” by the pandemic.
