A serious traffic accident occurred late on Wednesday, May 1, on Piros Street, when a passing car hit five people, including three children. According to the information, the 5-year-old boy is in serious condition.
The accident occurred on the road to Athens, in the Jumbo area of Piraeus, at around 21:30.
As a result of the accident, three children were injured, two of them are in the Agia Sofia Children's Hospital. An eyewitness to the serious accident said:The driver got out of the car and shouted: “I didn’t see them, I didn’t see them.” I saw two women holding hands with three children trying to cross the road. “Then I heard a noise, turned my head to see what happened and saw that the car had hit them, throwing two women into the air and one child lying on the road, they were trying to give him CPR.”
Regarding the condition of the victims, according to the Ministry of Health, a 5-year-old boy was taken to Tzaneyo Hospital, where he was intubated and then transferred to Ag. Sofia. He is being treated in the intensive care unit in critical condition.
His brother and sister, a 10-year-old boy and an 8-year-old girl, were taken by ambulance to Ag Children's Hospital. Sofia, where they were found to have minor injuries. They are being treated in a surgical clinic and are out of danger. The 53-year-old grandmother and 33-year-old mother of the children are being treated at the Red Cross hospital with fractures of the knee and tibia, respectively.
