Terror has become routine

It is enough to scroll through the main foreign TV channels, both Western and Eastern such as Al Jazeera, to see daily inhumane footage of the destruction of the population of the Gaza Strip.

Images of complete destruction, tear-stained eyes, mutilated or dismembered children, which for some unknown reason do not “touch” the vast majority of the Greek media. Information in our country about what is happening in Palestine remains rudimentary and reluctant compared to the rest of the planet.

The absolutely disgusting Hamas terrorist attack, which killed more than 1,200 people and took 253 hostages, gave Netanyahu the pretext to carry out an ethnic cleansing that killed at least 33,000 Palestinians, most of them civilians, mostly women and children.

Despite growing “pressure”, now from President Biden, the Israeli Prime Minister seems to be in no hurry to end the war. It now appears that Netanyahu has political reasons for continuing military action.

Almost six months since the start of the war in Gaza are dragging on. So is Netanyahu's tenure as Prime Minister. Even in Israel, questions arise about the connection between the two.

According to his critics, the Israeli politician is “dragging out” the war to prevent the collapse of his fragile right-wing coalition and prolong his time in power. But the tactics are fueling global anger at the vengeful bloodshed, as well as the growing anger of the families of the Israeli hostages, who are demanding the immediate release of their relatives.

Ofir Falk, an adviser to Mr. Netanyahu, cynically said in a written response to questions from the New York Times that “The destruction of Hamas and the release of hostages are not necessarily mutual goals.”

Experts warn of looming famine in Gaza while Israel is branded on the world stage with accusations of genocide against Palestinians. If humanity rightly condemned the massacre carried out by Hamas on October 7, it is now faced with Israel, which kills everyone, even humanitarian workers.

The attack on the Iranian consulate in Syria looks like yet another cunning move by Netanyahu to stymie the West and perpetuate hostilities in the region.

Publicly, Netanyahu has stated that he intends to invade Rafah. However, it would mean the end of the war and would increase calls for early elections, as well as an investigation into the Israeli government's responsibility for the October 7 attack.

However, the world's major powers do not respond as decisively as in other cases of invasion and atrocities. None of the leaders of the countries of the “collective West” even does not dare to accuse Israel of genocide. And as a result, the world gets used to this, daily “swallowing”, as a routine, images of murdered children on the streets, starving people and ghost towns. Perhaps this, ultimately, is the most dangerous thing…
