Psychological benefits of living near the sea

A house by the sea is the lifelong dream of many. A walk on the beach is the best stress reliever that clears your mind. This feeling of well-being and peace overtakes us every time the eye sees the color blue.

Is this really so, or does it just seem to you? Obviously the first one. When contacting the sea (visual or physical), lake or river, beneficial benefits are found. And the feeling of restoration of strength is not accidental. Here are some very good reasons to strive to see as much of the blue spectrum as possible.

In fact, during the Victorian era, doctors recommended sea air to patients suffering from psychological problems as well as breathing problems. The healing properties of water are important, especially for a modern city dweller.

According to a recent Condé Nast Traveler article, people are paying big bucks to be closer to the sea. They build houses next to it, pay more for a hotel room with a “sea view.”

Recent studies, such as those commissioned by the British wellness project Blue Gym, show that people living on or near the coast are generally healthier and happier. Accordingly, it has been proven that eye contact with images natural greenery reduces stress levels, but for the average person there is nothing more preferable than photos of sea views and a wider “blue element”. It is this feeling of calm that water gives even from a distance. But even the sound of waves (without eye contact), according to psychologists, has a beneficial effect.

Rain, the movement of water in the ocean, the splash of waves on sea stone, flowing water – sounds of nature that help us fall asleep easier.

According to a Northwestern University study, people exposed to the sounds of nature not only sleep more deeply, but also relax much more quickly (and more easily).

The mountains are good and majestic, but there is nothing better than the sea. After all, do not forget that our contact with water begins with intrauterine existence in the amniotic fluid.
