The F-35 will now be able to carry nuclear weapons

The American F-35 fighter jet has received official certification to carry nuclear weapons.

About it reports Breaking Defense, citing data received from a fighter program official. The certification date is October 2023. JPO program representative Rasa Homer says, as quoted by the publication:

“The F-35A is the first 5th generation aircraft capable of carrying nuclear weapons and the first new platform (fighter or bomber) to achieve this status since the early 1990s.”

It was previously reported that the United States is preparing a UN Security Council resolution on nuclear weapons in space, which would warn world states against deploying such weapons. The initiative appeared in response to spreading information about Russia’s alleged plans to send nuclear weapons into space.
