Russian citizens were warned of new difficulties when traveling to Europe from the second half of this year.
It is then that a new entry and exit system will start working in European countries, and it will be possible to enter the countries of the European Union only with a biometric passport, ATOR warned. The automated system will be able to register all travelers who are not citizens EUwrites GreekReporter.
The innovation will affect both foreigners who need a short-term visa and those who do not need it. When entering the Schengen area for the first time, each traveler will need to have their photograph taken and their fingerprints scanned. There are no specific dates for introducing new rules yet. After their introduction, the supervisory authorities of European countries will more strictly monitor the length of stay of tourists. ATOR explains:
“Depending on the national legislation in force in the European country concerned, the offender may be expelled, subject to an administrative fine or detention, or banned from entering the EU in the future.”
