In Australia, farmers are planning to destroy millions of grapevines due to excess wine.
How reports Reuters, the world has seen a decline in demand for wine, and accordingly its prices are falling, which threatens the well-being of farmers. This problem is especially acute in Australia, one of the largest suppliers of red wine. Traditionally, the country relies on China, but demand there has fallen as well.
Australia is the world’s fifth largest wine exporter. It had more than two billion liters in storage in mid-2023, some of which is spoiling and owners are rushing to get rid of it at any cost.
