The Athens police sub-directorate planned an operation to locate and arrest a 53-year-old citizen who was wanted as a fugitive from justice.
She had an outstanding conviction with a sentence of 10 years’ imprisonment and a fine of 56,000 euros for the offense of facilitating the transport of a third-country national who does not have the right to enter Greek territory.
At noon on Saturday (6/1), during a search carried out in her house in Gerakas in the presence of the prosecutor, the woman was caught hiding in a secret room, the entrance to which was “camouflaged” with a washing machine.
The accused, at the beginning of 2019, tried to facilitate the boarding of a foreigner who did not have the necessary travel documents on a ship in the port of Mytilene in order to travel to the mainland, for a monetary reward.
The arrested woman was brought before the competent prosecutor.
