Malaysia: Wild elephants trample a car after it hits a baby elephant (video)

A herd of wild elephants in Malaysia furiously attacked a car that hit their baby.

There was a family in the car: a 48-year-old man with his wife and 23-year-old son, tells CNN. They were traveling on the evening of November 26 along the main highway from Penang island to the northeastern coastal state of Terenggan.

Light rain and fog impaired visibility and, while “making a left turn on the highway,” the car was hit by a baby elephant. Zulkifli Mahmud, chief of police of the city of Gerik, states:

“The car crashed into a small elephant calf who was walking along the road with the herd.”

The baby fell to the ground from the impact of the car. Seeing this, five elephants rushed towards the car and began to trample it. Fortunately, the baby elephant was alive – after he stood up, the herd left the scene.

Police did not report any injuries or deaths and did not say whether the family of travelers was inside the vehicle during the “vengeful” elephant attack. All the windows in the car were broken, the side doors were knocked out, and the sides and front were damaged.

Attacks by wild animals on cars are not uncommon. Judge for yourself:
