Παρμενίων-23: today Greek civil defense will activate sirens and bells


Do not be alarmed today, October 2, by the sounds of sirens across the country – this is a test activation of the Civil Defense alarm as part of the TAMS exercise “PARMENION-23”.

It is intended for testing purposes only and should not cause concern, warns newsbeast.gr. The alarm will sound:

At 11:00 an air raid sound lasting 60 seconds (intermittent sound of varying intensity).

At 11:05, signaling the end of the alarm, lasting sixty seconds (continuous sound at constant volume).

At 11:10, a 60-second air raid warning signal in the North-East sector (North Macedonia and Thrace region, Lesbos and Lemnos regional units).

At 11:15, the end of the alarm, lasting sixty seconds, in the north-eastern sector.

At 11:20, an air raid alert lasting sixty seconds in the southern sector (South Aegean region, Crete, regional units of Arcadia, Messinia, Laconia).

At 11:25, signaling the end of the alarm, lasting sixty seconds in the southern sector.

At 11:30 a warning sign about the threat of ICD, lasting from one hundred to twenty seconds (intermittent sound of varying intensity) throughout the territory.

The announcement to citizens emphasizes:

“The public is advised that the activation of the Civil Defense alarm sirens is for testing purposes only and there is therefore no cause for concern. Simultaneously with the sound of the alarm sirens, the bells of Holy Temples throughout the country will sound, a series of short strikes at a fast pace lasting three minutes.
