There are approximately 100 thousand more Jews in the world compared to last year, less than half of them live in Israel.
Statistics show that there are now 15.7 million people in total (15.6 million in 2022). Of the 77,000 Jews living in Greece on the eve of World War II, at least 60,000 died in the Holocaust. In 2000, the Jewish population of Greece was about 4,500. Today there are nine active Jewish communities in Greece: in Athens, Thessaloniki, Larissa, Chalkis, Volos, Kerkyra, Trikala, Ioannina and Rhodes. In recent years, the number of Jews has begun to grow. First of all, at the expense of the Israelis, who are actively investing money in local real estate and, above all, in hotels and other tourism business facilities.
In Arab and Muslim countries, writes BB.LV, 27,000 Jews live, of which 14,200 are in Turkey, 9,100 in Iran, 2,100 in Morocco, 1,000 in Tunisia and 500 in the United Arab Emirates.
