Night attack on Sevastopol – military infrastructure came under fire, 2 ships were damaged (video)

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported an attack on Sevastopol on the night of September 13, which was carried out by ten cruise missiles on the Ordzhonikidze shipyard and three unmanned boats on a detachment of ships of the Black Sea Fleet.

The agency clarifies that air defense forces shot down seven missiles, and three naval surface drones were destroyed by fire from the Vasily Bykov ship. Three missed missiles damaged two ships undergoing repairs.

The explosions caused a fire. At least seven explosions were reported in the South Bay area and in the area of the shipyard. Bright flashes and smoke were visible in the sky. Traffic on the Crimean Bridge was blocked at this time. The head of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhaev, announced a missile attack on the city. He confirmed that non-civilian targets were attacked:

“In the Kilen-Balka area there is now a fire not at a civilian facility; according to preliminary information, the fire was caused by a missile attack. It has been assigned class four.”

Razvozhaev also said that as a result of the night attack, 24 people were injured, four were in moderate condition. At the same time, the Russian Ministry of Defense reports that two people were killed and 26 injured. The dead and injured are allegedly plant employees.

Explosions and a fire occurred at a ship repair plant, where complex repairs of ships of the Russian Navy are carried out. They write online that all three fires after the missiles arrived are located on the territory of the ship repair plant: two in the South Bay and one in Korabelnaya Bay. The Russian Defense Ministry said two of its ships, which were undergoing repairs, were damaged in the night strike.

A large landing ship may be damaged in Sevastopol. There is no official information yet about which ships were damaged. At the same time, Russian media and public pages write that a Russian large landing ship could have been damaged: the Caesar Kunikov or the same type Novocherkassk. It is also reported that there was a submarine nearby.

The American OSINT analyst DefMon believes that the target of the Ukrainian missile attack on Sevastopol could have been one of the Russian large landing ships (Project 775, according to NATO classification “Ropucha”) and a submarine (Project 877, “Kilo”). He publishes a satellite image in which, in his opinion, these ships are visible standing in the dry docks of the Sevastopol port as of September 8th.
