A 35-year-old woman was arrested in Ioannina for spreading false information about the death toll in Thessaly.
She was detained on Saturday evening, September 9, by the Ioannina Security Directorate in collaboration with the Electronic Criminal Prosecution Directorate. The latter’s investigation established that the accused posted a video on her social network account reporting a large number of deaths in one of the areas of Thessaly as a result of bad weather caused by Cyclone Daniel.
Official bodies do not confirm this information. The materials were transferred to the prosecutor, writes CNN Greece.
Dramatic moments continue to be experienced by the people of Thessaly after Daniel’s deadly offensive. The death toll reached 15, two people were missing. The waters in Pinios are gradually receding, but the picture is terrible: entire villages have been flooded with muddy water, the damage to infrastructure, livestock, crops and household appliances is incalculable.
