Baths of Orlias: a heavenly place on the slopes of the mountain of the gods

Just pandemonium is observed these days at the waterfalls and the famous stream of Orlia on Olympus. Hundreds of visitors, Greeks and foreigners, who are looking for an alternative form of recreation, visit this area every day for the purpose of recovery.

While journalists visited impressive waterfalls and fonts (small natural pools formed in the rocks) with crystal clear water, they met families from different parts of the country, as well as foreigners from Germany, England, USA, Serbia, Slovenia and Bulgaria. All of them unanimously say that they are “impressed by the fabulous landscape, which really looks like a small paradise.” The place is located on the eastern slopes of the mountain of the gods, very close to Dion, 5 km.

Nikos Lamponikos, president of the cultural organization of Dion Olympus municipality, told ERT, “The Orlia stream, crossing the slopes of Mount Olympus, forms many waterfalls and fonts. Two are the most easily accessible and are located just 5 minutes walk from the church of Agios Konstantinos and Eleni, on the road that connects Dion with the refuge of Koromilia (Δίον με το καταφύγιο Κορομηλιά).

Visitors can take a walk among the shady trees and then dive into the crystal clear waters of Orlia. Then you can go down to Dion, visit the museum, the archaeological park, see the local sights and, of course, taste the local traditional products.

Historically, the Orlias mountain river and the Orlias waterfalls are among the most ancient in Pieria and are of particular importance for Mount Olympus. Orlias waterfalls are the most beautiful place for walks and photo shoots. The old monastery of St. Dionysius is a historical site where you can learn about the religious culture of the region. The Geological and Historical Museum of Olympus and the Archaeological Museum of Dion present a rich collection of artifacts and exhibits. The Archaeological Park of Dion is a place where you can see the ruins of the ancient city and learn about its history.

Orlias waterfalls are located in the Olympus mountains in northern Greece, near the town of Litochoro. This is one of the most beautiful places in the region where you can enjoy natural beauty and fresh air. The waterfalls consist of several cascades that form from the Orlias River. The height of the largest is about 20 meters. The water here is clear and cool, making it ideal for swimming on hot summer days.
