Shooting near the police station of Agios Dimitrios

In the early hours of Friday morning, firearms were fired outside the Agios Dimitrios police station.

At dawn on August 18, a policeman guarding the police station of Agios Dimitrios noticed a moped moving in the opposite lane on Argostoli Street, on which there were three persons.

Apparently having difficulty controlling the two-wheeled vehicle, the moped driver braked briefly and the passenger fired several shots into the air. Then the moped picked up speed again, continuing to move towards Argostoli Street, and disappeared.

The guard immediately notified the Rapid Response Center, which launched a search for the shooter and his accomplices. Four shell casings and a stun gun were found at the scene. Police officers are looking into whether this incident is related to another that occurred earlier in the same area. It is known about him that a group of gypsies were waiting for a woman at the house, and then the criminals got inside and kidnapped her husband. The woman went to the police station to testify about the abduction, and while she was testifying, there was a shooting.

So far, seven people have been arrested, but it has not yet been established whether they are related to this incident. Agios Dimitrios Police Station is conducting a preliminary investigation.
