In the barrel found … drugs worth 210,000 euros

The anti-narcotics prosecutor’s office has put a brake on a heavy drug trafficking helix in Patras after an investigation found more than €200,000 worth of illegal substances hidden in a barrel.

On Monday, June 26, operations took place in Patras and Kato Achaia, during which a large amount of heroin was found. According to the information, about 8 kilograms of heroin and 700 grams of marijuana were found in a wooded area near the village of Maneteyka in Western Achaia. The drugs were found in a 20-liter barrel buried in the ground.

Two people were detained, two of their accomplices are being sought, the full details of which have already been established by law enforcement agencies. The criminals, who in the past were attracted by the authorities on similar cases and live in Patras, regularly traveled to the “cache” area to collect a certain amount of drugs. The “goods” were then supplied to local consumers.

During a search of the houses and cars of the detainees, officers of the Drug Enforcement Administration found and seized:

  • electronic balance,
  • gun,
  • Cell phones.

According to rough estimates, the estimated cost of drugs is between 105,000 and 210,000 euros. A criminal case has been initiated against the citizens, and today they will appear before the prosecutor of the city of Patras.
