Visiting the Navagio bay in Zakynthos will be allowed with restrictions


Following a recent joint ministerial decision, the full forbidding access to the famous Navagio beach on the island of Zakynthos, the new decision will allow access, albeit with restrictions.

At the same time, those wishing to swim in the waters of the bay will be allowed, but also subject to the above distance, while walking along the coast will be prohibited.

Subject to the above exceptions, access to the wreck of the Panagiotis will be closed until 31 October 2023 due to landslides. The beach was closed on March 16 after a new assessment of the situation with alleged landslides.

These measures are taken by a joint decision of the ministers of civil protection, maritime and island policy, tourism and the climate crisis, which is based on the recommendation of Efthymios Lekkas, professor and president of the Organization for Antiseismic Planning and Protection (OASP), who indicated that if “any accident occurs, it will be catastrophe.”
